(VOVworld) – The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Japan have agreed to strengthen cooperation in the struggle against chemical, biological, radioactive, and nuclear weapons and cyber-terrorism as part of their tireless efforts in counter-terrorism. The deal was reached at the 7th ASEAN-Japan Counter Terrorism Dialogues (AJCT-7) held last week in Cebu, Philippines, according to a press release from the ASEAN Secretariat yesterday. AJCT-7 participants put their focus on maritime transport and security, border control, immigration, law enforcement, and capacity building. The event created opportunities for ASEAN members and Japan to review and assess their cooperation and exchange information on counter terrorism during the first phase of AJCT between 2006 and 2011. This dialogue marked the beginning of AJCT’s second phase from 2012-2015.
