Mr. Haoliang Xu, the UN Assistant Secretary-General, UNDP Assistant Administrator and Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific stressed the significance of Agenda 2030 as approved at the UN Summit last September. The program worked out the vision, implementation methods, global relations and partnership to realize sustainable development worldwide over the next 15 years. ASEAN’s Deputy Secretary General Vongthep Arthakaivalvatee said the workshop helped ASEAN, China and the UNDP to promote cooperation, sustainable development and move towards the implementation of ASEAN’s Vision by 2025.
The UNDP also issued reports on the issues of poverty, inequality, challenges to ASEAN in the implementation of the sustainable development goals (SDG), and cooperation between ASEAN and China in implementing SDGs.
