(VOVworld) - The Vietnam People’s Army will continue expanding cooperation with other ASEAN military forces and work for the establishment of new mechanisms that suit the region’s security and cooperation interests.

Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army Senior Lieutenant, General Do Ba Ty, made the statement at the opening ceremony of the 15th ASEAN Chief of Army Multilateral Meeting (ACAMM-15) in Hanoi on Wednesday. General Ty highlighted that ACMM-15 has become a crucial cooperation mechanism to deal with common security threats facing the region, especially non-traditional security threats. Mr. Ty also asked the participants to discuss feasible measures to exploit the resources of each country and promote cooperation among armies to deal with security challenges. General Do Ba Ty: "In the context of the region’s political and security structure taking shape and strategic issues related to peace, and security in the region, ASEAN countries have consistently promoted cooperation to effectively deal with trans-national challenges. ASEAN countries have promoted their significant role in assuring peace, stability and development in the region".
The ASEAN Chief of Army Multilateral Meeting aims to foster exchange and integration, contributing to enhancing solidarity, mutual understanding and trust among ASEAN military forces.
