(VOVworld) – Politburo member Le Hong Anh has praised the contributions made by artists and culturists to the nation’s arts and literature and the revolutionary cause. Anh, who is also a standing member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam’s Central Committee, made the statement at a New Year get-together in Hanoi on Tuesday. He said the renewal process is creating favorable conditions for the development of culture, arts and literature. But Anh added economic difficulties, social vices, side effects of a market economy and international integration plus hostile forces’ sabotage attempts are posing challenges to artist. The party leader said: “Now, more than ever, the Party and State want the writers to maximize citizens’ responsibilities during the current revolutionary period. Each artist or culturist should be close to the revolutionary cause, the people and the country so as to create works of ideological and artistic values.”

Later on, Poliburo member Le Hong Anh paid a New Year visit to intellectuals and scientists at the Party Central Committee Secretariat’s office in Hanoi. He stressed the Party and State’s attention to science and technology, a key factor for sustainable development and national wisdom. Anh urged them to create major breakthroughs: “In the near future, scientists need to focus on studying practical issues arising in Vietnam’s renewal and socialism building. This will help with decision making for Vietnam’s industrialization and modernization.”
