The event highlighted the importance of preserving and improving the special solidarity and friendship between the two countries.
"Can Tho city has organized a series of culture and friendship programs to maintain good relations with Laos’s Savannakhet province, and provide Lao students with financial aid so they can study in Can Tho city. I hope the Consul General and other delegates will facilitate exchanges between Can Tho and Lao localities," said Vice Chairman of the Can Tho municipal People's Committee Truong Quang Hoai Nam.
Also on Sunday, Vietnam’s Embassy in Vientiane hosted a banquet to mark the 72nd anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day and the 55th anniversary of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic ties.
"We will do our utmost to preserve the special solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Laos, no matter how complicated the world gets," Lao Foreign Minister Saleumxay Kommasith spoke at the event.
