A marine transportation brigade was established during the fiercest time in the resistance war against the US. They organized thousands of boat trips on the route which carried tens of thousands of personnel, hundreds of thousands of tonnes of weapons, ammunition, and goods from the north to the south to reinforce troops on major battlefields.

Deputy Minister of National Defence Sen. Lt. Gen. Le Huy Vinh said: “The Ho Chi Minh Trail at Sea was a correct and creative decision, which showed the strategic and long-term vision of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh in revolutionary war and innovative application of our ancestors’ tradition in fighting foreign invaders. The maritime trail illustrates the will and determination toward the spirit of “nothing is more precious than independence, freedom” and “Vietnamese nation is one” and a desire for “North and South unite in one home”, and “no difficulty, no obstacle, no enemy can deter us from advancing.”

Deputy Minister Vinh said the maritime trail was a shining symbol of revolutionary heroism and the Vietnamese army’s intelligence, braveness, and determination to liberate and unite the nation.
