APEC leaders hail Vietnam’s growing role in global stage

(VOVWORLD) - State President Luong Cuong held brief meetings on Friday with the Prime Ministers of Japan, New Zealand, and Malaysia, during the ongoing APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in the Republic of Korea.

The leaders praised Vietnam’s growing role and status on the international stage as well as the country’s strong development in various fields. 

All partners agreed to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam, particularly in economics, science, technology, digital transformation, green transition, climate change response, disaster prevention, food security, and cybersecurity. 

They congratulated Vietnam on being entrusted to host APEC for the third time in 2027 and pledged strong support and close coordination with the country to ensure the successful organization of the event.

President Cuong conveyed the congratulations of Vietnam’s top leaders to new Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and expressed his belief that with her extensive experience, Takaichi will lead Japan to new achievements.

The Vietnamese President praised Malaysia’s efforts as ASEAN Chair in 2025, including the successful organization of the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits, which promoted the building of the ASEAN Community and strengthened ASEAN’s central role in the region.

In discussions with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, President Cuong expressed his pleasure at the increasingly positive development of bilateral relations, especially following the recent upgrading of relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
