(VOVworld) – The Mekong Delta province of An Giang on Friday hosted a meeting to look at the achievements of over 40 years of Vietnamese-Japanese diplomatic ties and their prospects. The event also marked Vietnam-Japan Friendship Year 2013 and was attended by Yoshinori Yakabe, Deputy Consul General of Japan, and Japanese volunteers and entrepreneurs operating in An Giang province.

22 Japanese ODA projects have been implemented since 1997, totaling 1.5 million USD, and there are 2 FDI projects currently in place there. The province has broadened its cooperation with Saga University, Kagoshima University, and Japanese agricultural research institutes. It has sent delegates to Japan to learn about bio-technologies, particularly high-tech agriculture, to meet the demands of provincial agriculture and new rural development.
