He noted that despite the US’s withdrawal from the Trans-Pacific Partnership, US’s enterprises can still boost cooperation with partners in APEC and support US large corporations’ partnership with other Asia-Pacific memberships. He said: “We hope to see great cooperation of the US in Vietnam. I think our cooperation over the past few years has moved into a very positive direction from the previous administration, the Obama’s administration, even going even further than that. We hope that the Trump's administration will continue to see Vietnam as an important emerging economy in Southeast Asia and within the Asian group. As I said, American businesses are excited about Vietnam because of the population, the economic growth, the movement in economic reforms. We will encourage the administration to work with Vietnam as the key partner.”

Fatherree said international corporations joining APEC shown their keen interest in economic prospect of Vietnam and its investment and trade environment.
