(VOVworld) – The African Union (AU) on Sunday set up a contact group of five heads of state to resolve conflicts in Libya where the Islamic State is expanding its presence. The decision came during the 26th AU summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. AU Peace and Security Commissioner Smail Chergui said the Libyan conflict has affected the continent, but the conflict can be resolved if Libya forms a national unity government. Chergui said that any attempted military solution could make the situation worse. That is why, he said, the African leaders have decided to set up a high-level contact group. No names have yet been announced.
