Taliban fighters have killed 17 people, including 10 policemen, in an overnight attack on a post manned by government-backed local police in Ghazni province in eastern Afghanistan. Details of Wednesday's pre-dawn attack on an Afghan Local Police (ALP) checkpoint were still not clear, as officials were investigating how the fighters breached security at the post in Ghazni province. A suicide bomber exploded a bus of Afghan soldiers in Kabul at 7 am on the same day killing 6 members of the Ministry of Defense and wounding 4 civilians. Taliban rebels took responsibility for the attack. Since 2001, Taliban rebels have carried out a series of attacks on US soldiers in Afghanistan, killing many soldiers and civilians. But the Taliban is now shifting its focus from NATO coalition forces to government security forces, including tribal leaders and Afghan police.
