(VOVworld) – Afghan security forces regained control of Darqad district of northern Takhar province early Sunday after three days of fierce clash.

The provincial spokesman, Sanatullah Timor, said law and order have been restored and the joint forces were working to find and defuse roadside bombs and landmines planted by the Taliban in the area.
A total of 25 militants were killed including a Taliban local leader named Kamal Haidari. There is no report on civilian casualty. The Taliban militant group captured the district in October 2015.
