Speaking at the opening of a parliament session on Sunday, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said Afghan forces dislodged IS loyalists from Nangarhar province, near the Pakistan border. He declared that Afghanistan will be a “graveyard” for IS. Afghan forces claimed victory after a 21-day operation in Achin and Shinwar districts, Nangarhar province. They said at least 200 militants were killed.
Afghan officials said most of the IS militants have no connection to the Taliban.
