(VOVworld) – The 3rd ADMM Plus Meeting opened in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday with the participation of Defense Ministers of 10 ASEAN countries and the bloc’s 8 Dialogue Partners, including China, the Republic of Korea, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, India, Russia, and the US. Malaysia’s Defense Minister, Hishamuddin Tun Husein, spoke at the opening ceremony: "We are well aware of the importance of the cooperation mechanism of ADMM+ in maintaining peace and stability in Asia Pacific. Since its establishment in 2010 in Hanoi, this cooperative mechanism has continued to be strengthened whenever involved parties make commitment addressing security concerns. Amid the current international tensions, defense leaders are asked to make stronger commitments to ensuring security, not only for Asia Pacific, but for all."

Following the opening ceremony, ministers held a closed-door meeting to discuss ways to deal with regional and global issues like navigation and aviation security and safety, fighting terrorism, and cyber security.
