During a Wednesday visit to Military Zone 9, National Assembly Deputy Chairman Tran Quang Phuong praised the army’s support for COVID-19 prevention and control by sending military personnel to help localities fight the pandemic and harvest crops.
Mr. Phuong called on Military Zone 9 to cooperate with provinces in the Mekong Delta region to fulfill security and defense missions and ensure that local people enjoy a warm, happy Tet.
“Over the past two years, the military force of Zone 9 has coordinated with other forces to safeguard security and order and make a good impression on local people,” said Phuong.
A delegation from the Naval Region 5 High Command, officials from Binh Duong and Dong Nai province, and reporters visited and presented Tet gifts to soldiers on Tho Chu island in Kien Giang province.
The delegation also gave Tet gifts to the officers and soldiers of Radar Station 610, a border guard station, a lighthouse station, regiment 152 of Military Zone 9, and Tho Chau commune.
At a spring program, 3,500 USD per family was given to the families of Navy soldiers to build houses of gratitude and gifts were given to 50 policy beneficiaries and poor households in Nam Van commune, Nam Dinh province.
