In Hanoi, an art program featured songs and dances in praise of the devotion and sacrifice of Vietnam’s heroic mothers, Uncle Ho’s soldiers, war veterans, and martyrs to the cause.
On Sunday, a requiem for martyrs was held in Kon Tum province.
Between March and July, 1968, some 400 soldiers of Regiment 209, most from Hanoi, died on Kon Tum’s battlefields. Nguyen Van Tinh is a veteran of Regiment 209.
Vinh shared his feeling: “The Kon Tum provincial administration and the Buddhist Sangha organized this moving requiem. Our comrades’ sacrifice deserves proper attention. All of Hanoi’s veterans want to convey our love for our fallen comrades.”
The same day, an arts performance was held in Quang Binh province to mark War Invalids and Martyrs Day and the 105th birthday of General Vo Nguyen Giap.
