(VOVworld)- The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs launched the first Action Month for gender equality and prevention of gender-based violence, which ended on Thursday.

Under the theme “Preventing Violence against Women and Girls in Vietnam”, a range of activities were held nationwide involving thousands of people and included conferences, seminars, training, policy dialogues, talk shows, game shows, music festivals, and film screenings. At a conference to review the event in Hanoi on Thursday, delegates praised the diversity and quality of activities that were effectively carried out. A UN representative in Vietnam stressed the need to strengthen the legal framework and policies to empower women and girls and fully implement regulations on protecting women and children.
