Themed "Buon Ma Thuot-Destination of the world coffee", the festival aims to promote the Buon Ma Thuot coffee brand and develop Vietnam’s specialty coffee, towards making Buon Ma Thuot a global coffee center.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang praised Buon Ma Thuot coffee brand and export potential.
He suggested the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinate with localities to continue restructuring agriculture and the coffee industry to move toward large-scale commodity production.
He added that it is necessary improve planning, focus on growing areas, and promote a sustainable coffee production value chain while boosting cultural and tourism development.
"We must develop appropriate advertising, marketing and brand positioning strategies. We also need to focus on promoting close and sustainable links between enterprises, cooperatives and coffee growers, developing e-commerce, diversifying consumption channels, and improving the efficiency of connection between producers and consumer markets. Promoting the development of high quality coffee and Vietnamese specialty coffee with special flavor to meet international standards is very important," said Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang.
Dak Lak has the largest coffee growing area of more than 210,000 hectares with an annual output of more than 520,000 tons.
Dak Lak's coffee is exported to hundreds of countries and territories around the world.
