The bombs were planted in tree pots and set off near the clock tower. Police said these twin bombs might be related to previous bombings in Thailand in which bombs were hidden in plant pots and detonated remotely using mobile phones.
Thai police reported two blasts in Hua Hin, two in Phuket Island, and one in the town of Surat Thani - the gateway to many resort islands in Southern Thailand - and another in Trang provine in the south of Thailand. Officials say they are looking for the people responsible and the motive behind the blasts.
