700,000 people evacuated in the Philippines to avoid typhoon Melor

(VOVworld) – Philippine officials said more than 700,000 people have been evacuated in the central region to avoid possible floods and landslides before typhoon Melor makes landfall. On Monday morning, typhoon Melor with a velocity of 185km/hour swept through the northern part of Samar island in central Philippines. No casualty has been reported. Philippine officials warn that the typhoon may cause heavy human and property losses. The typhoon is forecast to pass through central Philippines before heading to the East Sea Tuesday morning.
