(VOVworld) – Nearly 1.200 delegates representing more than 10 million members will attend the 6^th National Congress of the Vietnam Farmers’ Union which opens in Hanoi on Monday. Under the theme “Unity-renovation-pro-activeness-integration-sustainable development”, the congress is considered an important political event for Vietnamese workers and farmers nationwide. It will highlight the position, role and responsibility of farmers and the Vietnam Farmers’ Union in agricultural development and building rural areas. During the 3-day event, delegates will discuss the implementation of the 5^th congress’s resolution and discuss plans for the next term until 2018. They will also amend the statute of the Vietnam Farmers’ Union to conform to the new phase of development.
