(VOVworld) – The Steering Committee for the Southwest Region held a ceremony on Tuesday in Can Tho City to mark the 60^th anniversary of state management of religion. Duong Quoc Xuan, Deputy Head of the committee, said that the implementation of religious policies in the region is on the right track. Localities have created favorable conditions for religious organizations to operate in compliance with the law and handled their requests on religious activities and the building and upgrading of worship facilities. Xuan said he was pleased that all major religious events in the region have been held in conformity with the law. The southwest region, comprising 13 Mekong Delta provinces, has a diversity of religions, including Buddhism, Catholicism, Protestantism, the Caodaism, Hoa Hao Buddhism, and Islam.
