(VOVWORLD) -Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai emphasized that the opening of the Provisional Revolutionary Government headquarters of the Republic of South Vietnam in the central province of Quang Tri demonstrated the Party's strategic vision and enhanced symbolic values, will and aspiration for peace and national unification.

At Sunday’s ceremony in Quang Tri province to mark the 50th anniversary of the opening of the provisional government headquarters, June 6, Deputy Prime Minister Khai said Quang Tri was the first province of the South to be liberated.

After the 1973 Paris Peace Accord on ending the war and restoring peace in Vietnam was signed, the Party Central Committee and the Politburo decided to relocate the workplace of the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam from Tay Ninh to Quang Tri to meet the new requirements of the resistance war against the US for national salvation.

From 1973 to 1975, the Provisional Revolutionary Government affirmed its role in the international arena, welcomed more than 49 international delegations, established diplomatic relations, and received ambassadors from other countries to submit to the letter of credence.
