47.3 million COVID-19 cases globally

(VOVWORLD) - 47.3 million people have been infected with the novel coronavirus, which has claimed 1.2 million lives worldwide, according to worldometers.info.

The US, with 9.5 million cases, has been the hardest-hit by the pandemic, followed by India with 8.2 million cases and Brazil with 5.5 million cases.  

France reported 53,000 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, bringing its total to nearly 1.5 million.

Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia has tested positive for coronavirus and is in home quarantine, his press office announced on Monday. 

China reported 49 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, up from 24 a day earlier, the national health authority reported on Tuesday. 44 new cases were imported infections and the other 5 were locally transmitted cases in the northwestern Xinjiang region.
