(VOVworld) – A ceremony to mark the 40th anniversary of Ho Chi Minh city’s Youth Volunteer Force was held on Sunday. President Truong Tan Sang, Secretary of the Hanoi municipal Party Committee Dinh La Thang, veterans, and representatives of the Youth Volunteer Force attended the event.

Chairman of Ho Chi Minh city’s People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong said that over the past 40 years, the Youth Volunteer Force has proved the importance of its political role and been a vanguard in implementing tasks assigned by the city. Mr. Phong urged the force to diversify its operation to implement new tasks.

Tran Phu Lu, Commander in chief of Ho Chi Minh city’s Youth Volunteer Force, said: “We are planning new breakthrough programs focused on promoting a civilized urban lifestyle and protecting the environment. We will deploy the Youth Volunteer Force to ensure security and social order in the city”.

On this occasion, President Truong Tan Sang presented the third class Independence Order to Ho Chi Minh city’s Youth Volunteer Force.
