40 more local cases of COVID-19 recorded Friday noon

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam confirmed 40 new COVID-19 infections on Friday noon, raising the total count since the morning to 80.

23 of the latest cases were recorded in Bac Giang, 13 in Bac Ninh and one each in Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Ha Nam, and Hanoi. All the cases in Bac Giang and Bac Ninh are associated with local coronavirus outbreaks, either in industrial parks or community clusters.

The cases in other localities had contact with previously confirmed COVID-19 patients.

More than 3,300 infections have been detected in 31 cities and provinces since COVID-19 re-emerged in Vietnam on April 27.

Bac Giang, with 470 infections and neighboring Bac Ninh, with 689, continue to lead the nation in number of infections, owing to their large-scale industrial parks.

Vietnam has so far reported more than 6,300 COVID-19 cases. More than 2,800 COVID-19 patients have recovered and 46 have died.
