(VOVworld) – A ceremony was held in Hanoi on Wednesday to mark the 35th anniversary of the Vietnam-Soviet Union flight into space, a milestone in the traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and what is now Russia. Russian astronaut of the former Soviet Union, Viktor Vasilyevich Gorbatko, who together with Vietnamese astronaut Pham Tuan made a successful flight into space 35 years ago, spoke at the ceremony: “I’m very happy to attend this ceremony to mark the 35th anniversary of the Vietnam-Soviet Union flight into space which I and Pham Tuan had the honour to make. When I was asked to fly into space with Pham Tuan, a hero of Vietnam, I was very excited and proud. During the time we worked together before, during, and after the flight, we established a very close friendship that has lasted for more than 35 years now."
