(VOVWORLD) - Australian Government officials have approved a plan for 350 international students to fly to Canberra to resume their studies – the first returnees since Australia closed its borders to non-residents in March to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

The students will resume studies at the Australian National University and the University of Canberra, the first universities to endorse the plan to receive international students. The universities will give preference to students enrolled in research or postgraduate courses, honors students, and students in the final year of their undergraduate degree. Students will be quarantined at hotels for two weeks before returning to class.
