Health Minister Nguyen Thanh Long said during a meeting on Thursday that the Hanoi-based Viet Duc and Bach Mai hospitals and Hue Central hospitals will be assisting local staff in the treatment of critical patients.

Minister Long said that HCM city is struggling to cope with unprecedented COVID-19 outbreaks that are the largest and toughest to contain to date, despite the increasingly drastic measures that municipal authorities have taken.

Despite a ride in infections, the city is still on the right track, he said.

On Friday morning, HCM city recorded more than 2,700 cases, accounting more than half of the national count.
