The 2nd Asia-Pacific Water Forum (APWF-2) is on-going in Chiangmai, Thailand. Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan led Vietnam’s representatives to the forum. The 2-day summit, which opened on Sunday, focused on the theme “Water Security and Water-related Disaster Challenges: Leadership and Commitment”, with topics related to economic security, food security, water security, and urban water security. At the opening ceremony on Sunday, Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and head of the government's Water and Flood Management Commission Plodprasop Suraswadi said that the purpose of the summit is to emphasize the need to prevent flooding and manage water resources against climate change. He said the world needs to co-ordinate to build specific plans to effectively cope with water-related issues in the future.
