The Filipino diplomat said Vietnam has put forth several initiatives and led efforts to enrich ASEAN’s agenda and experience.

Mr. Noel credited Vietnam’s 2010 ASEAN Chairmanship with promoting a treaty on nuclear free ASEAN, strengthening the East Asia Summit by admitting non-ASEAN member countries, leading dialogues on restoring regional medical finance, enhancing sustainable growth, narrowing development gaps, and boosting infrastructure.

The diplomat praised Vietnamese leadership in fulfilling ASEAN’s plans and expanding external relations.

He lauded Vietnam’s success in fighting COVID-19, saying it has become a global role model.
