20-year implementation of Resolution 36: Major turning point created in Overseas Vietnamese affairs

(VOVWORLD) -The Politburo’s Resolution 36 has created a major turning point in Overseas Vietnamese affairs and was built on the foundation of the overarching guideline of the Party and State of Vietnam, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang said on Monday.

Addressing a press conference in Hanoi to announce the results of the 20-year implementation of the Politburo’s Resolution, Deputy FM Hang, who is also Chairwoman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, said the Resolution has won the support from Vietnamese abroad.

“After the resolution was born, its implementation reflected in the State's legal documents has paid great attention to the rights and interests of Vietnamese people abroad. Throughout the implementation process, there has been the participation of the entire political system at all levels from central to local levels, especially with the support and consensus of the majority of Overseas Vietnamese,” the deputy foreign minister said. 

Hang also told reporters that the fourth World Conference of OVs and the 2024 forum of OV intellectuals and experts will take place from August 21 to 24. The Prime Minister will attend the Opening Session on August 22. 600 participants, including 400 overseas delegates, will join the hybrid events and discuss four topics related to associations, businesspeople, intellectuals and preserving the Vietnamese culture and language.
