Italian Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi has ordered the deployment of some 700 security units across Rome, especially at the Vatican, major churches and the city center. Modern surveillance measures, including facial recognition system, have been deployed at airports, train stations and main tourist destinations.
Checkpoints have also been set up along key routes leading to the Vatican to detect and respond to potential threats in real time.
Themed "Journey of Hope", the Jubilee Year 2025 is not only for the 1.4 billion Catholics all over the world, but also extends the message of unity and peace to people from all walks of life. The Jubilee, a tradition dating back to 1300, typically takes place every 25 or 50 years.
