Addressing the ceremony, International Paralympic Committee president Andrew Parsons called on world authorities to come together to build a beautiful, tolerant and war-free world.

More than 500 athletes from 46 countries and territories will compete in 78 events in 10 days of the Games in Beijing and Zhangjiakou.
