(VOVworld) A diverse of activities will take place this year to mark the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic ties and 35th anniversary of the signing of bilateral agreement on friendship and co-operation. Leaders of the two countries have agreed to observe 2012 as a Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship year.

The Steering Board for the event met in Hanoi on Monday and said that the celebration will be carried out nationally with most of activities scheduled from July to September. They will include the exchange of senior visits between the two countries, a grand meeting in Hanoi, Vietnam and Vientiane, Laos, the presentation of orders and medals to senior officials of both countries, and cultural and art exchanges at all levels.
