(VOVworld) – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung will attend and deliver a key note speech at the opening of the 12th Shangri-La Dialogue from May 31st to June 1st in Singapore. The Dialogue includes 27 countries in the Asia-Pacific region. This year’s event will discuss a number of issues including the US’s approach to regional security, protection of national interests and conflict prevention, military modernization and strategic transparency. It will also examine China’s role in regional, global, and Asian security institutions, and the boosting of defense cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region. Topics for discussion will include preventing conflicts at sea, new military theory and technology, defense diplomacy and conflict prevention, and the scale of information and security networks in Asia.

With its success in reform and foreign relations, Vietnam has consolidated its prestige in the region and the world, particularly among the ASEAN and Eastern Asia. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung’s participation will affirm Vietnam’s foreign policy and its stance on important regional issues including peace, stability and maritime security in the East Sea.
