During an expedition last month, an 11-member BCRA team found, named, and surveyed 12 new caves in Bo Trach, Quang Ninh and Minh Hoa district. Limestone formations in the new caves include stalactites, stalagmites, columns, and flowstones, they said.

More than 10km of caves have been discovered by the BCRA in Vietnam.

With the 12 new caves, cave researchers have recorded a total of 417 caves in the area of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park in Quang Binh province, which is home to Son Doong, the world’s largest cave so far.
