116 new domestic infections of COVID-19 reported on Monday evening

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam confirmed one imported case of COVID-19 and 116 community cases, mostly in northern provinces, on Monday evening. 

61 of the cases were detected in Bac Giang, 38 in Bac Ninh, 7 in Da Nang, 5 in Hanoi, 2 in Phu Tho, 2 in Hung Yen and 1 in Vinh Phuc.

The latest cases brought the national count on Monday to 184 including 174 domestic infections.  

On Monday morning Vietnam confirmed its 37th COVID-19 death. The Ministry of Health said the 34-year-old man from Bac Ninh province died of severe pneumonia due to COVID-19, brain injury related to an earlier accident, and meningitis.

Sine a new COVID-19 wave broke out on April 27, Vietnam has seen more than 1,200 cases nationwide. 

The country has so far recorded 4,359 cases including 2,668 recoveries and 37 deaths.
Nearly 1 million people in Vietnam have been inoculated against COVID-19, with more than 22,000 getting two shots, according to the Health Ministry.
