(VOVWORLD) - We’d like to thank our dear listeners around the world for sending us greetings on Vietnamese Revolutionary Press Day, June 21.

B: During his journey to seek a way for national salvation and make necessary preparations for founding a Communist Party to lead the country’s revolution, Nguyen Ai Quoc was encouraged by Vladimir Ilyich Lenin’s viewpoints on the press: “A newspaper is what we need most of all; without it, we cannot conduct a systematic, all-round propaganda and agitation, consistent in principle. The press is the propagandist, the agitator, the organizer, and common leader.”

A: At the end of 1924, when he returned to Guangzhou (China), Nguyen Ai Quoc immediately began to prepare to publish a political newspaper, and at the same time opened training classes for elite young people brought from the country to study, to be the core of the future revolution.

B: Nguyen Ai Quoc and a number of colleagues who were his students performed this important work in a small attic on the busy shopping street in the center of Guangzhou. This attic was also the establishment and headquarters of the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association.

A: At this time, the issues of the Youth magazine were created, copied on wax paper, and then secretly shipped back to the country. In Vietnam, the Youth newspaper was handwritten into many copies by revolutionary organizations and then passed on to their comrades to read and communicate to the people.

B: The first issue of Thanh Nien, an agency of the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association, was published on June 21, 1925, and continued to be published weekly. With nearly 90 issues, the Youth newspaper completed its historical mission: Spreading Marxism-Leninism among the people, actively contributing to the theoretical, political, ideological and organizational preparation for the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam, opened a new line of journalism - Vietnam Revolutionary Press.

A: After Thanh Nien newspaper, Nguyen Ai Quoc founded Kong Nong (Workers Farmers) newspaper (in 1926) and Duong Kach Menh (Revolutionary Path) newspaper (in 1927). On October 1st, 1929, the Bua Liem (Hammer Sickle) newspaper - the mouthpiece of the Indochinese Communist Party published the first issue. In August 1929, the Communist Annam branch in Shanghai published a handwritten Red newspaper on wax paper. From the first publication of the Youth newspaper to the end of 1929, the Vietnamese revolutionary press had over 50 newspapers and magazines of the Association of Revolutionary Youth and 2 Communist organizations: Indochina Communist Party and Annam Communist Party.

B: In the conference to unify Vietnam’s communist organizations and found the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) on February 3rd, 1930, under Nguyen Ai Quoc’s chairmanship, a resolution on the press was passed. Since the inception of the CPV, the press has performed a role of paramount importance to the revolution for national liberation, independence, and freedom.

A: Over the past 98 years, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Vietnam’s revolutionary press has accompanied the country’s development process, playing a core, vanguard role on the ideological-cultural front, and making significant contributions to the Vietnamese Party and people’s revolutionary cause.
