B: Let’s begin with José Ignacio Cos Lezama of Brazil with his praise for Vietnam’s economic achievements. He wrote: "Vietnam, along with its government and domestic and foreign businesses, is shaping up to be an impressive development model. The efforts, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit are propelling the economy forward."

A: It’s so encouraging to hear your thought, José. Your message echoes the hope about Vietnam’s journey to prosperity.

B: In his email to the English section this week, Juan Carlos Pérez Montero of Spain sent a reception report for our program on August 4 on the frequency of 9730 khz and SINPO of 45544. He wrote: “I hope you are enjoying this summer, surrounded by the people you love, which is ultimately the most valuable thing in life, sharing good times with those close to us.”

A: Well, in Vietnam, we have experienced the hottest days this summer over the past three days. Luckily, as from Tuesday night, the rain fell and the weather is cooling down.

B: Hanoi scorched at 40.3 degrees Celsius on Monday, the hottest August day ever, as northern Vietnam baked through a fourth straight day of intense heat.

A: According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, 13 out of 15 northern provinces reported temperatures above 35 C and most areas experienced temperatures between 37 C and 39 C, classified as extreme heat on Monday and Tuesday.

B:  Northern Vietnam experienced three heat waves in July. Average temperatures during these periods were 0.5–1.5 C higher than historical averages. For August, meteorologists expect temperatures to stay high in the first half of the month before gradually subsiding.

A: Next, we’d like to acknowledge correspondence from Jayanta Chakrabarty of India. In his email to VOV this week, he wrote: “I am happy to report on your broadcast of 30 July 2025 which was heard in fairly good condition as monitored from this part of northern India. As an admirer of Vietnam and its dynamic people, I was delighted to hear about the historical third straight victory of Vietnam’s men’s football team in the AFF U23 Championship in 2022, 2023, and 2025. I learned that the win in the 2025 U23 Southeast Asian Championship will be a major boost to Vietnamese national football and a great motivation to the youth of the country.”

B: Thank you, Jayanta, for your detailed and encouraging message. We’re thrilled to hear that our signal reached you in good condition, and even more so, that the story about Vietnam’s triumphant U23 football team struck a chord with you.

A: Indeed, this third consecutive championship win is a proud moment for Vietnamese football and a powerful inspiration for young athletes across the country. The energy and determination of these players reflect the spirit of Vietnam's youth today. They are the one who are resilient, passionate, and striving for excellence.

B: Your kind words remind us of the power of sport to unite people and bring nations closer together. We’ll continue to keep you updated on the journey of Vietnam’s national teams in future tournaments. And of course, we hope the reception continues to be strong where you are in India!

A: This week, Mikio Kohara of Japan sent us this lovely note: "I often tune in to your ‘Chat with Listeners’ segment. One thing VOV does very well is listening to audience feedback and improving its programming accordingly."

B: That’s exactly our goal, Mikio. Your feedback helps us grow, and we’re so glad you feel heard and valued.

A: Another listener in Japan, Tomoharu Ueda from Hokkaido, said: "I really enjoy your programs. Not just on radio. I also follow you on Facebook. Thank you for bringing us so much interesting news!"

B: Thank you, Tomoharu! We love connecting with our audience beyond the airwaves, and we’re thrilled you’re following us online too.

A: Over on Weibo, many Chinese listeners engaged with our story about Vietnam’s passport jumping 7 ranks to 84th in the Q3 Henley Passport Index. We’ll continue sharing updates like this that reflect Vietnam’s growing global standing.

B: And from India, listener Radhakrishna Pillai wrote: "Your content is consistent and informative. Congratulations to the VOV team for vividly conveying Vietnam’s rich culture and history in your articles."

A: We truly appreciate those kind words. Telling Vietnam’s story to the world is our mission and we’re so glad it’s resonating with you.

B: This week, many listeners including Buntieng and Phetsavan from Laos asked when we’ll announce the winners of the 2025 “What Do You Know About Vietnam?” Contest.

A: Great question! Actually, our judges are working on the entries at the moment which we believe it’s not an easy task as many entries are well-scripted, illustrated and organized, many are outstanding, showing our listeners’ deep understanding of Vietnam and how they closely follow the developments in Vietnam as well as their love for Vietnam and Voice of Vietnam in particular.

B: Stay tuned. We’ll share the results as soon as they’re released. We hope we can announce the winners in next week's Letter Box. The three First Prize winners will be invited to visit Vietnam and attend the Award Ceremony in early October, at the 80th Anniversary of the VOVWorld (VOV5).

A: This week, many listeners share their excitement with the upcoming celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2). Many of them ask about the participation of foreign armies in our parade marking this occasion.

B: Well, Vietnam’s National Defense Ministry has invited the military of five countries – Russia, China, Laos, Cambodia, and Belarus – to join the parade in Hanoi.

A: The ministry has also sent invitations to defense ministers of eight countries, including Russia, China, Laos, Cambodia, Cuba, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, to attend the ceremony.

B: The invitation of military units to participate in the parade is a gesture of friendship, solidarity and close bonds between the people and army of Việt Nam and its traditional allies.

A: Just over three months ago, military personnel of China, Laos and Cambodia took part in Vietnam’s military parade in Ho Chi Minh city, celebrating our Liberation of the South and National Reunification on April 30.

B: Long-time listener and club president Chinmoy Mahato wrote from India: "The 'Letter Box' segment is my favorite. Through it, I get to know other listeners and understand their thoughts. But 28 minutes feels a bit short—I hope you’ll extend it to include more feedback."

A: Chinmoy, we’re truly touched. Your loyalty and insights keep us going. We'll consider your suggestion, because the more voices we include, the richer the story becomes.

B: To all our listeners, thank you so much for your thoughtful messages, insightful questions, and continued support. You’re the reason we love doing this show. Please, send your feedback, questions, or greetings to us via email, social media, or postal mail. We’d love to hear your voice in our next Letter Box!

A: Until next time, and keep listening to the Voice of Vietnam!
