(VOV) - Fire dancing is a typical spiritual culture of Dao ethnic minority people to pray for happiness and bumper crop. Fire dancing festival takes place at night which increases the mysterious and astonishing nuances of the dance on the red hot charcoals.
To begin the festival, the sorcerers practice ritual to pray for the ancestors’ support in the new year. Traditionally, only young men who have been trained hard by the wizards can dance on the red hot charcoals.
Here are photos of the fire dancing in spring 2014 in Nam Det hamlet, Bac Ha district in the northern mountain province of Lao Cai.
