Known as the land of sun and wind, Ninh Thuan’s climate has shaped its appeal for beach tourism. It boasts a number of stunning coastal spots, such as Ninh Chu, Binh Tien, Ca Na, and the Nam Cuong sand dunes.
One spot, Vinh Hy Bay, stands out. It has been recognized as one of Vietnam’s eight most beautiful bays and is one of nine global biosphere reserves.
Ninh Thuan is home to 356 species of coral, making it a favorite destination for domestic and international scuba divers. According to local authorities, 80% of Ninh Thuan’s visitors come for the beach. Tourist numbers grow steadily every year, drawn by swimming among colorful fish, fishing from traditional round basket boats, admiring the coral reefs from a glass-bottom boat, and visiting coastal craft villages.
To support this growth, the provincial administration has made plans to diversify marine tourism offerings and improve infrastructure. Last year Ninh Thuan approved 29 tourism projects, most along the coast near Ninh Hai, Thuan Nam, or Ca Na. These projects are part of a broader vision to transform the province into a new coastal tourism hotspot, aligned with plans to establish an international-standard tourism zone.
Nguyen Van Thu, Deputy Chairman of the provincial Tourism Association, said, “The key to attracting more visitors and encouraging them to stay longer is continuous investment in infrastructure to create a fresh image and offer the best-quality products for guests.”

Administrative unit merging initiated by the Party and State is opening up great opportunities for Ninh Thuan’s economy, including marine tourism. The merger will create breakthroughs via regional integration and leveraging coastal advantages to expand marine tourism.
With a plan to develop the Ninh Chu National Tourism Area, Ninh Thuan is poised to unlock its potential to drive local socio-economic growth and contribute to the South Central Coast region.
Pham Xuan Luong, former Deputy Director of the Vietnam Institute for Tourism Development Research, said, “Nha Trang, Ninh Chu, and Da Lat make up one of Vietnam’s key tourism growth triangles. We identified this development triangle long ago. With stronger regional links, we can make a tourism breakthrough and attract more visitors to Ninh Thuan.”
Ninh Thuan is also emerging as a leader in renewable energy, especially wind and solar power. This has opened up new possibilities for experiential tourism tied to energy farms.
During a recent working session with Ninh Thuan leaders, Party General Secretary To Lam said, “Ninh Thuan must continue reform and design mechanisms for attracting infrastructure investment, particularly in sectors where it holds a competitive edge. Special attention should be paid to experiential tourism at renewable energy farms and sustainable use of marine resources.”
By leveraging its maritime advantages, Ninh Thuan is securing its position on Vietnam’s tourism map. With a clear vision and strong momentum, Ninh Thuan is determined to make tourism a spearhead industry as it embarks on a new phase of development.
