Since being seperated from Song Be province 25 years ago, Binh Duong has become a model in investment attraction, industrialisation, and urbanisation.
Binh Duong, which used to be a purely agricultural province, has developed its industry and service sector. It ranks second in Vietnam in FDI attraction after Ho Chi Minh City, with more than 4,000 investment projects from 65 countries and territories, with a total registered capital of 37 billion USD.
With a policy of creating the best possible conditions for investors, 27 of the total 29 industrial parks and 12 industrial clusters in Binh Duong have come into operation. The business community here has developed strongly in all three models - state-owned enterprises, private enterprises, and FDI enterprises.
Economist Tran Du Lich praises Binh Duong’s business potential and great advantages in linking, creating, and turning regional competitive edges into a driving force for its future development.
Meanwhile Hirata Shuji, Deputy Director General of Becamex Tokyu, said, “We see the great potential of Binh Duong, a new city, so we decided to invest here.”

In the coming period, Binh Duong authorities are determined to create new developments through planning from now until 2030 with a vision to 2050, under which Binh Duong will pursue green, smart, sustainable development and concentrate resources to build modern infrastructure.
Vo Van Minh, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said, “We’ll focus on investing in infrastructure, especially routes connecting us with other localities in the southern key economic region: Ring Road No.3 and No.4, HCM Highway-Thu Dau 1- Chơn Thành, port routes, river routes, railway projects linking Binh Duong to Cai Mep Thi Vai port, and bus routes connecting metro lines to Binh Duong New City.”
According to Nguyen Hoang Thao, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Binh Duong is building a smart city to attract high-tech investment, bringing added values and benefits to its businesses and people.
“Binh Duong smart city is a dynamic, creative, and connected ecosystem, in which every element will be continuously renewed and optimized. The smart city is also a prominent solution to improve people’s life quality,” said Thao.
The plan to build a smart city in Binh Duong until 2030 has produced initial results. A World Trade Center in Binh Duong New City has been put into operation. In addition, a GIS geographic information system and a science and technology industrial park project in Bau Bang district have been in place. Binh Duong has also promoted administrative reform, international connection, and trade promotion programs, and continued to develop the smart village model.
The authorities and people of Binh Duong are realizing the targets set by the provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term: to develop the province sustainably in the direction of a smart, civilized province by 2030, and by 2045 a modern industrial center with a smart city.
