The narration was heard at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum. Earlier this month, the museum installed new headphones and modern screens in an interactive space to enhance their visitors’ experience.

Director Nguyen Anh Minh told us what will be on offer. “In anticipation of the 80th National Day, starting August 15, we will open an exhibition “Citizens of the Fatherland,” then some mini concerts and music performances. From September 1-3, the museum will offer free admission to all visitors.”

At Hoa Lo Prison Relic, where Vietnamese revolutionaries were imprisoned by the enemy during the struggle for national independence, thorough preparations have been made from the lobby to the queuing area. Cooling system and drinking water are ready to serve tourists.

A visitor said: “I am very happy to tour the relic site during the 80th National Day to better feel the patriotism of our ancestors. I’m proud to be Vietnamese.”

Starting August 19, a new service of double-decker trainwill take visitors to explore Hanoi and nearby areas. The train will consist of 10 carriages, including five passenger carriages designed with themes inspired by Hanoi’s five historic city gates: Quan Chuong, Cau Den, Dong Mac, CauGiay and Cho Dua gates.

There will be three trips a day departing from Hanoi Station, passing through Long Bien, Gia Lam, and Yen Vien, and end at Tu Son (Bac Ninh) station.

Mai Van Ngoc, Head of the locomotive and carriage workshop at Gia Lam Railway Company, said: “We designed this double-decker train in two years and finished the production in the first half of this year. We’ve refined every detail of the carriage and modified the interior decors and the arrangement of tables and chairs. So, passengers can enjoy the scenery and take photos. The train offers free Wi-Fi and charging ports.”

Many cafes in Hanoi have adopted patriotic-themed decorations, dominated by radiant red hues in celebration of National Day. People take photos to capture memories of these special days.

“We will post photos on social media platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram because we really want to spread the patriotic spirit and introduce this beautiful place to many more people.”

“Many of my students and colleagues take photos at places with decorations to celebrate National Day on September 2. They inspire me to take some photos too.”

Handcraft workshops around the city have prepared materials for clients to draw the national flag and iconic images of the homeland on conical hats. At bakeries, customers can try to cook food and decorate food and drinks in red and yellow, the colors of Vietnam’s national flag.

Nguyen Dieu Linh, founder of Choi Workshop, said: “Coming here tourists can enjoy food and learn about Vietnam’s culture and the patriotic spirit of the Vietnamese people.”

From museums and historical sites to cultural spaces hosting various handicraft activities, Hanoi is telling the story of patriotism in a gentle way.
