(VOVWORLD) - Many corruption cases and wrongdoings have been reported in Vietnam in recent years, defying public opinions, Party guidelines, and State law. Law protection agencies have strictly and promptly dealt with the cases to protect national security and maintain social law and order. These efforts have strengthened the building of Vietnam’s law-governed socialist state.

In late 2011, Truong Chau Huu Danh and other members of the group called “Clean Journalism” were imprisoned for 14 years and 6 months for “abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State, legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals.”

On March 24, 2022, the HCM City People’s Procuracy launched criminal proceedings against and arrested Nguyen Phuong Hang, 51, general director of the Dai Nam Joint Stock Company in southern Binh Duong Province for the “abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State, legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals.”

On March 29, 2022, President of the FLC Group Trinh Van Quyet was detained and prosecuted for the act of "manipulating the stock market" and "concealing information in securities activities" on January 10, 2022, causing serious damage to investors and affecting operations of Vietnam's stock market.

Vo Van Thuong, Deputy Head of the Central Steering Committee for Combating Corruption and Negativities, asked relevant agencies to strictly and promptly deal with these cases, especially those threatening the Party guidelines, the State law, and the public.

Mr. Thuong said: “What we have been doing with these three cases have had great social impact. The violations challenged the Party guidelines and State law as well as the public. We have strictly, promptly dealt with the cases while preventing their impact on other activities.”

Stories and illustrations on the Facebook fanpage “Clean journalism” and “Doing clean journalism” of Truong Chau Huu Danh violated the law and created a forum for biased comments which have negatively impacted society. Such comments are distortions which sabotage and undermine the legitimate rights and interests of the State and local administrations.

Nguyen Phuong Hang violated the right to freedom of democracy and infringed on the legitimate rights and interests of many individuals.

With the spirit of upholding the law and maintaining the discipline and transparency of the stock market, relevant agencies are investigating Trinh Van Quyet for the act of manipulating the stock market and concealing information in securities activities.

Full-time member of the NA Committee for National Defense and Security Trinh Xuan An said: “The Party’s leadership role, pro-activeness, flexibility, and strictness have been proved in these cases. Some of them played a big role in the economy and had strong influence in society, but our ultimate rule is to respect the law.”

Lawyer Nguyen Van Chien of the Bar Association of HCM City says a civilized society is a society where all citizens live and work according to the law and all social behaviors must be respectful of the law. The behaviors of these people violated the law, caused an erosion of trust within segments of the population, and affected the prestige and influence of the Party leadership.

“To build a law-governed state and a civilized society under the party guidelines, any law violation must be strictly, promptly dealt with in order to ensure fairness and strictness,' said Chien.

Dealing with violations that challenge the Party guidelines and State law, the public needs the engagement of the whole society, especially law protection agencies. These efforts, in addition to fine-tuning institutions, will strengthen the building of the law-governed socialist state of Vietnam.
