Participating in AIPA-42 is Chairman Hue’s first official multilateral diplomatic activity and the continuation of Vietnam’s parliamentary diplomacy.
AIPA-42 consolidates ASEAN’s unity against challenges
AIPA-42’s theme “Forging Parliamentary Cooperation in Digital Inclusion towards ASEAN Community 2025" reflects the organization’s consensus and determination to help ASEAN control COVID-19, pursue economic recovery, and reinforce solidarity. It also demonstrates ASEAN’s foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, and balance, and its determination to complete the goals set for ASEAN Community building and promote a responsible ASEAN ready to coordinate its response to emerging issues. It is difficulties and challenges that foster ASEAN’s compassion, solidarity, and mutual support between members.

Vice Chairman of Vietnam’s National Assembly Tran Thanh Man said: 'More than ever AIPA needs to stand side by side with ASEAN in implementing initiatives concerning the ASEAN COVID-19 Response Fund and the ASEAN Regional Reserve of Medical Supplies, in establishing the Epidemic Response Fund, and in carrying out the ASEAN plan on purchasing vaccines and improving the region’s vaccine production capacity. With a comprehensive approach to containing the epidemic, ASEAN is moving toward the ASEAN Master Recovery Plan in which renovation, innovation, digital transformation, and growth model reforms will leverage ASEAN’s recovery and sustainable growth. '
Vietnam’s responsible contribution to AIPA’s cooperation
Vietnam will participate in the opening session, the 1st plenary session, the AIPA Female Parliamentarians’ Meeting, and meetings of AIPA’s Committees.
President Nguyen Xuan Phuc will send a congratulatory message to AIPA-42, while Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue’s speech will focus on the current regional and global situation; ASEAN’s multilateral cooperation, solidarity, and consensus; efforts to contain the COVID-19 pandemic; and Vietnam’s determination to boost vaccine cooperation.
NA Secretary General and Head of the NA Office Bui Van Cuong said, 'At AIPA-42, Chairman Hue will deliver a message highlighting Vietnam’s constant renovation and the Vietnamese National Assembly’s responsible and dynamic participation in multilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation and its support for the government in socio-economic development and COVID-19 response.'
