The working groups visited Quang Ninh, Lao Cai, Thua Thien-Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Khanh Hoa, Ho Chi Minh city, Can Tho city, and Kien Giang province.

Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien said there is an urgent need to build a set of tourism criteria to ensure the safety of tourists from COVID-19.

The criteria focus on transportation, border gates, stations, airports, sightseeing and entertainment places, shopping centers, and hotels. Minister Thien asked the Vietnam General Administration of Tourism to upgrade its mobile phone app listing safe destinations and organize promotional programs.

The four working groups met with leaders of provinces and cities, tourism associations, and businesses to update them on COVID-19 prevention activities. They will also make recommendations for recovering tourism after the disease subsides.

The tourism sector will restructure foreign tourism markets and revise the budgets of the National Tourism Promotion Program and the National Action Program for 2020. Communications will stress Vietnam’s success in controlling the disease and promote Vietnam as an attractive, safe, and friendly destination.
