(VOVWORLD) - 25 million students nationwide began the 2024-2025 academic year on Thursday. The opening ceremony took place simultaneously in all localities.

Party General Secretary and President To Lam sent a letter to the education sector, affirming that the Vietnamese Party and State consider education and training a top national priority. He emphasized the importance of policies that foster educational development and called on ministries, sectors, Party committees, and local authorities to continue supporting education and implementing national education reform.

At Nguyen Dinh Chieu Secondary School in Hanoi, on Thursday, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested favorable conditions for educational growth, fostering a learning society, especially for students with disabilities and those in difficult circumstances. The Prime Minister stressed the need to make the national education system an open, equitable system that supports lifelong learning. He called for the swift completion of specialized educational institutions for students with disabilities and centers that promote inclusive education.

Attending the new school year opening ceremony at Pham Hung High School in Long Ho District, Vinh Long province, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said: “The Ministry of Education and Training needs to continue implementing the new general education curriculum and adopt exam guidelines and training to create the best possible conditions for examinees and their families.”

Schoolchildren nationwide are excited about the new school year.

Le Thi Lanh Eban, a 12th-grade student at No Trang Long Boarding High School for Ethnic Minorities in Buon Ma Thuot city, said:  “I’m very happy to return to school and reunite with my friends and teachers. As a senior, I feel the need to work harder and uphold the school’s proud traditions that have been built over the past 50 years.”

Like schools on the mainland, schools in Truong Sa Island district, Khanh Hoa province, held opening ceremonies on Thursday.

Truong Nguyen Trieu Vy, a student at Truong Sa Primary School, said:  “In recent days, my parents and I have been preparing books, notebooks, pens, and clothes for my first day of school. I’m determined to achieve the best results in this new school year, and I hope students across the country will strive for academic success.”

The brief but meaningful opening ceremonies included flag salutes, the singing of the National Anthem, art performances, the reading of the President’s letter for the new school year, and a ceremonial drumbeat to officially start the school year.

Feedback
