The Q&A session is one of the NA’s important activities reflecting its function of oversight. By holding Q&A sessions, the NA demonstrates its collaboration with the political system and the government in addressing issues. At this session, they will discuss effective solutions to fight the pandemic, recover economic activities, and ensure social security.

Q&As on practical issues

Secretary General and Head of the NA Office Bui Van Cuong says thorough preparation has been made to make the Q&A session effective and in line with the law.

'Based on opinions of NA deputies and their requests for particular issues and officials to be questioned, and requests by the public, the NA Secretary General will summarize and categorize the issues. After meetings with the Council for Ethnic Affairs, NA Committees,  and NA Standing Committee agencies to collect opinions and votes, we divided the issues into 6 groups. And then after consulting with the NA Standing Committee, the list was shortened to 5 and then the NA deputies decided to focus on 4 groups of issues. At this Q&A session, issues concerning health care; labor, invalids and social affairs; planning and investment; education and training will be debated.' said Cuong.

NA deputy Trinh Xuan An of Dong Nai province said, 'I applaud the preparation by the NA Secretary General and relevant agencies in selecting issues for the Q&A session. NA deputies hope that the Q&A session will clarify issues of voter concern.'

NA deputy Nguyen Thi Suu of Thua Thien-Hue province said, 'The NA Standing Committee has thoroughly analyzed and summarized the contributions of localities and NA delegations. I’m most concerned about health care,  our fight against the pandemic,  treatment of infected cases, and measures to ensure social security.'

NA deputy Hoang Duc Thang of Quang Tri province said. 'I’m concerned about economic recovery in the post-pandemic period and more effective policies and solutions to fight the pandemic. The fight against the pandemic and recovery of  economic activities at the same time have an organic and dialectic relationship. It’s important that we debate economic recovery and development and the COVID-19 fight at the Q&A session.'

Q&A to create social consensus

The ultimate goal of Q&A is to identify responsibilities of the government and leaders of sectors in management and law enforcement, shortcomings, and inappropriate issues and seek solutions to address problems. Through Q&As, the NA and voters evaluate the capability and performance of leaders of state management agencies. Q&A is considered a way to exercise direct oversight which creates practical changes in most sectors and fields.

At recent NA meetings, the public praised the frank, democratic, and responsible atmosphere and constructive discussions and dialogues at the Q&A sessions.

Continuing the success of previous Q&A sessions, the public is confident that the first Q&A session of the 15th NA will successfully demonstrate the efforts and responsibility of the government, ministries and sectors in management and the responsibility of the NA deputies in oversight.
