After visiting several supermarkets and stores, Bui Thi Vy of Ho Chi Minh City, bought a gift set packaged like a small suitcase, making it convenient to carry. She said the design is creative and the price of about 20 USD was reasonable.

This year, supermarkets are filling their gift baskets with products from the “One Commune, One Product (OCOP)” program, including agricultural goods, regional specialties, and private brands. The price of a gift basket ranges from 4 USD to 40 USD, with most priced below 20 USD. Customers can also request customized gifts and packaging to match their budget.

Phan Thi Thu Thao, Deputy Director of Purchasing at MM Mega Market Vietnam, said: “In addition to ensuring sufficient supplies for Tet, we have intensified quality and food safety controls. We are also offering promotions such as buy-one-get-one-free and discounts of up to 50%, including on our online platforms.”

Since early December, many retail chains have introduced fruit products engraved with wishes for the Year of the Horse, such as pomelos and coconuts bearing messages like “May All Things Go Well,” “As You Wish,” “Prosperity,” and “Longevity.”

This year sellers are using environment-friendly packaging for gift sets. Products are being discounted 10 to 28%. Nguyen Ngoc Thang, Deputy CEO of Saigon Co.op, said: “With promotional programs, we are confident people can plan ahead without worrying about last-minute gift shopping. Customers can place orders now, and we will deliver them 10 to 15 days before Tet.”

Major retailers are reporting abundant Tet supplies in a variety of designs and extended promotional campaigns to encourage early purchases. Supermarkets have seen a 10-15% increase in demand for Tet gift baskets compared with a month ago.
